Shade on Solar Panels: What a Coconut Tree Really Costs You and How to Fix It
A little shade can cost more than you'd think, because panels are wired in series. We explain bypass diodes and half-cut panels, then model a 15 m coconut palm next to a roof in Naval using 10 years of PVGIS hourly sun data. A palm 6 m to the east, west or south cuts the nearest panel's yearly sunlight by about 13–15%; at 15 m it's about 2%. Plus the fixes, in the order we'd try them, and what the coconut law says about cutting the tree.
